Gear Shifting on My Honda 750 Shadow

I have a 2008 Honda 750 Shadow. Since the last year that I bought it started to shift a little hard between the gears. I took it to the dealer to ask them about it and the service manager road it to check it out but he said that it was normal wear. I've owned many bikes in the past and this was never a problem. It just doesn't seem right. I've adjusted the clutch cable and there is enough play on both ends of the cable lever.
