Same

Hi,
I have the same bike but had to shame myself into asking at the bike shop. I was told in no uncertain terms that 'On, means the petrol flows, off means it doesn't, reserve is when you forget to fill up in time and fuel is just the name of the indicator panel!' Wish I'd found this website earlier to save myself the humiliation!

Turn it on

It should be in the "on" position when riding, unless you are almost out of gas, then you flip to reserve, find a gas station and fill up, and flip it back to ON. Personally I never use OFF unless it's in storage.

Most smaller bikes don't have a gas gauge, so you have to monitor your fuel use. My bike has a 2.9 gallon gas tank, but .9 of that is the reserve. Once I've burnt the 2 gallons it "runs out", and then I have to flip to reserve, and find a gas station before I burn up the remaining .9, otherwise I would be stranded and completely empty. I don't know the mechanics since it's all the same gas tank.

I turn my trip odometer to zero every fill up and I know I get about 60-65mpg, so if it starts sputtering any time around 120 miles means I'm running out of gas.

Hope this helps.

Seems to me it should be pointing to 'on'. 'Off' would be no gas and 'reserve' would be what you put it on when it starts to run out of gas...meaning you better get to a gas station pretty soon.
