fuel tanks

I ve got a 1980 gs 750 and i'm looking to swap out the tank to a smaller cafe racer look. it already has an after market tank but has a leak and is wider than i want. But other than maybe having to move a braket or so.. will most any tanks fit on it? i'm just starting this project.
