Floorboards vs Pegs

Me and My Bonnie Blu

Me and My Bonnie Blu

Does one have an advantage over the other?

I used to ride a small bike...a VStar 250 which had pegs. I recently bought my dream bike a HD Softail Deluxe (her name is Bonnie Blu) which has floorboards. I found the pegs on my small bike more comfortable believe it or not... I started having hip pain from the position my foot is on the floorboard. Ugh. Or perhaps it could be the seat position on the bike that's giving me the issue... Do I have to keep the floor boards? I like them - sort of. I think if I could get something between a peg and a floorboard I would be happy. Any ideas?

Thanks!!

LM

To Each their Own :)
by: Crissy

I had a 1200 Harley Custom, which had pegs with the Toe shift. I thought I liked it. When I got my Fat Boy, it had Floorboards and toe/heel shift. I was terrified! I'm like..."I don't know about this, man". But...I LUV them! I don't use highway pegs, as I am not feeling so "in control", but sometimes my hips feel a lil sore after a longer ride, but other than gas and smoke breaks, what s wrong w/a stop every now and then? Plus, just me again, but it feels way more cool when your shifting up in gears with that heel :)

Pegs

I prefer pegs, but I ride a dual sport. Sit on bikes with all different peg and board arrangements, and see which one you think you'll like best.

Forward Controls with Foot Rests
by: AJ

I ride a softail deuce, try foward controls with foot rests.

Heres what harley advertises: Give your feet a rest while stretching out on your forward controls. These adjustable billet-style Rider Footpeg Heel Rests reduce fatigue and make you look as good as you feel. Just add a pair of matching shifter pegs to complete the custom look.

I have them on my bike and would change for anything else. My Dads fatboy had floorboards and after longer rides my calves always hurt.

Floorboards - Pegs - ??
by: Sandra

My Suzuki Boulevard has floorboards...I was very impressed when I got her with them...and I really like the comfort of my ride.

But...I remember the day, riding pillion, when the driver said "bump" I could quickly and easily transfer my weight onto the peg and absorb the shock - not so w/floorboards. I find it extremely awkward to shift my weight to my feet on floorboards. Don't know why, I just notice the difference!

Give and take! Hope you find the best of both worlds!!

Highway Pegs
by: Karen

I have a soft tail also. I have short legs and got the more expensive fully adjustable highway peg mounting kit. I have them set so my heals can rest of floorboards and the ball of my foot on the pegs.
