First Time Buyer

(Northern Louisiana)

Hi everyone!! I am a 17 year old who VERY VERY VERY much wants to go get her motorcycle license and hit the road. But there are two problems: getting the right bike for me and money. I would really like to get a dual-purpose bike, one that be ridden around town and can be used for long/er trips. Plus, I hope to find one cheap... it sounds impossible and, quite frankly, I am starting to loose hope that one exists! So I figured hey- I just found this amazing website, why not ask all of the amazing wonderful people here? Thus here I am. Oh almost forgot that I weigh about 120-125 lbs so nothing to heavy please. I VERY MUCH HOPE THAT SOMEBODY CAN HELP ME OUT!!! I would be so grateful!! Thanks girls. :)

Motor Man

Your weight should not be an issue. Google motorman on youtube.com. They have a 105 pound lady whipping an Electraglide in confined spaces.

I just sold my Honda Shadow 1100 for just under a thousand dollars. The bike was ugly, but it was a great runner

I would recommend looking for bike that is between a 450 and an 900. The bigger bike will be a little heavier around town, however the extra weight will be welcomed on longer trips.

Take the motorcycle safety class. Fun, cool people and it will save your life.

Craig's List

Check out Craig's List! I found a 2003 Honda Shadow 600 VLX with only 4900 miles for $2300. You may want to start with taking a course in motorcycle safety. They'll teach you to ride, at the end of the class you get your license, and you get to learn on their bikes. The community college had Honda Rebel 250s and I think Yamaha V-star 250s. They were super light and easy to handle, great to learn on!
