I'm a small girl, 5'5" about 110 lbs and not very strong. I really want to get a motorcycle for the first time, but am unsure as to what brand/model I should get. Can anyone give me some advise?
I found the 250 cc crusiers that were used in my MSR class were exceptionally easy and forgiving. They have all the parts of the bigger bikes but not enough engine throttle to get into real trouble. They are fun and light enough to allow you to learn to control them without much fear that their weight will overwhelm you if they tip a bit. I think the one I used was a Kawasaki, but I drove a friends Honda Rebel recently and it was pretty much the same. Loads of fun in a non-threatening package.
Now, if you DO stick to two-wheeling, and plan to run down interstates keeping up with traffic for hours at a time, those bikes are too small, too light, and too underpowered. But to learn on they are perfect. And, when you grow out of them, you can usually sell them for nearly what you have in them.
One last suggestion. Get a used one, if possible. They are cheaper, pre-scratched, and remove all of the fears of "newness" that can interfere with learning.
The best bike is the one that matches your driving patterns to your driving abilities. Both are likely to change across time. And as they do, you can match your bike to your needs and abilities.

Definitely Try Some Out by: Rene L.
Hi,
I definitely agree, and was given the advice by experienced riders, to go out and actually sit on a few bikes to see what feels comfortable. One I would suggest you try, is the bike I ended up buying as my first. I have a 2009 Suzuki Boulevard S-40. It is a smallish cruiser style but with enough power, a 650, that you will not quickly outgrow it and with enough to get around when you need to get out of the way. It is very lightweight and easy to handle. I'm 5'5" as well and easily sit on the bike with flat feet.
Good Luck!

I would suggest that you go to some bike shops and sit on some. See what feels good. Do you have any past experience riding anything with two wheels? Do your homework, and look at all bikes.
