Fashion "Moto Gear" / Pleather Jacket

Hullo ladies! I bought a motorcycle-style fake leather jacket that I'm now questioning. Although the jacket isn't real leather, it seems pretty sturdy to me. I haven't yet taken the course but I will this summer so I need some protective gear.

My alternative is to buy a (likely hideous and slightly uncomfortable) second-hand denim jacket. I don't have the cash for a real leather jacket --at least not until I have the certainty I'll get a bike.

I know this might be difficult to answer without seeing the material, but do you think that the pleather jacket I have would be acceptable for the training course, or should I go find some thick denim?

Jacket

Hi,

Your jacket should be fine...I agree with other comments...helmet first after the course and then on to boots and jacket and gloves...

I was required to have boots over the ankle and a long sleeve shirt. They provided a helmet and gloves.

Good luck....

Your Just Fine

The class I took only required a long sleeve shirt, gloves and boots over your ankles. They even said the gloves could be gardening gloves. In the class you will not leave the parking lot so I would not invest in too much gear until you get your license and a bike. The class I took even supplied the helmets, but I already had one so they let me use my own as long as it is DOT. If anything I would invest in a very good DOT helmet before I worried about a jacket until colder weather comes back around. A good pair of over the ankle boots is another good investment as they will last you a long time. I've had mine for over 4 years now and they still look great. I have them polished by an old Vietnam Vet that sets up at a couple of places we go and he does a really good job for me a couple of times a year. This helps to weather proof them too.

The class I took only required a long sleeved shirt. I would not spend any money on jackets just now. The fake leather jacket you have now should be fine.
