Best technique is your eyes. Don't depend on your mirrors, make sure you are alert, and looking carefully before changing lanes. Take the Motorcycle training course and this will help you identify traffic hazards.

What do you mean by "technique"? The only technique I can think of is to be aware of everything around you.
- Watch vehicles in front, back and both sides.
- Watch car drivers' heads and eyes - where are they looking. People usually turn in the direction they they are looking.
- Look way ahead to see if there is anything to avoid.
- Also glance often at the road in front of you for road hazards such as holes, bumps, debris, sand, rocks, etc.
