Choosing a Helmet

What kind of helmet do you wear and why did you choose it? Any opinions on the Shoei RF-1000, Nolan N84, or Nolan N102? What color? What style, such as full face or modular (flip-up)?

Change the visor!

I recently had trouble with m visor fogging up very quickly, and had to ride with it slightly open all the time.

I replaced it with a 'pinlock' visor which basically has an extra plastic layer on the inside (like double glazing) which stops your breath condensing.

This only cost about $35, and they are easily available online for AGV and Shoei, and probably all other major brands. Makes winter riding much easier and warmer!

When I am on the sport bike, I ride with a Shoei R1000 full face. To combat the fog issue just kinda of aim your breath downwards & / or keep you shield cracked a little.

When we ride the GoldWing, I wear a modular.

I like both for different reason and different kind of riding.

Color is a personal issue.

Shoei RF-1000

Because of past whiplash issues with my neck, I need a fairly light helmet. I won't ride w/o a FF, and I've found the RF-1000 to be very light, really comfortable, but the only issue (and this is annoying) is it has a tendency to fog up too easily, so if you do a lot of riding in sub-70F temps in stop & go situations, this could be an issue.

Otherwise it's a really good helmet.
