carbs on a Suzuki

we have a 1978 Suzuki 550E, with 4 carbs. I put a gallon of fresh gas, with some gumout, the bikes been sitting. Start it up, and run around the neighborhood. After a few minutes, the bike bogs down as I give it throttle, so I back off. Then all of a sudden it will stall. If I choke it, it will restart, I can get going, but soon as I flip off the choke, it starts acting up.

You didn't say how long it's been sitting. It may need to have the carbs cleaned. That was an expensive lesson I learned with an '83 Honda I once had.
Adding stablizer on a tank of hi test gas (no ethanol) and let it run through before it sits for a month or more will prevent.
You can google a web site that shows all gas stations that have ethanol free gas.

gas

hi i also have an older suzuki 1982 gl650l. i found that mine runs like crap too. it has to do with the ethanol in the gas. so what i do is buy stuff either at the motorcycle shop to remove the ethanol or get stabil for marine engines and put that in the tank everytime i fill up. solved my problem or better if you can get 100% gas even better. part of the southb you can still get 100% gas rather than the e-10. it makes a difference.
