We are an all female motorcycle club in southern California. We currently have 23 riders and approx. 30 support ladies (social club). Most members ride Harleys but all are welcome. It's not the ride its the RIDE that's important. Our club chapters are in Los Angeles, Inland Empire, High Desert and Arizona. We love to ride, helping the community and the sisterhood. Much love and respect to all the ladies out there on twos, ride safe. I ride a Harley-Davidson Road Glide because of the handeling, look and comfort. What do you ride and why?

What do I ride and why
by: Nora T

Hello ladyz....I am a new rider residing in Mo Val. I ride a Dyna Switchback mostly because I can handle it and I think I'm afraid of anything bigger lol, plus this is my very first bike. I've been riding for less than a year, went to safety class got my license. I mostly (only/lol) ride with hubby but now I think I might want to explore more options... Thank you for your time.

Stay blessed

Girls who ride in Australia
by: BMW Barbe - Sydney

Hi Squeezy,

I'm part of the Sydney Dykes on Bikes (Other states have membes too), where at Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras (at night) our numbers swell to up to 340 bikes to lead the parade though the streets of Sydney. But we only have about 50 members and friends come on various rides from a day to long weekends periods.

Contrary to popular belief, only a few wear leather and have harley's. It's a great way to meet new similar minded riders whose passion for the ride is akind. My best friend (Jeff and his wife) normally come on the rides as the support vehicle and he is an honourary member.

Over the next month (in our Spring/summer) we have three rides coming up supporting the general community - the pink ribbon ride for breast cancer, breakfast torque put on by the state government and motorcycle council which put on displays of the latest motorcycle safety gear, accident demonstration by ambulance/police/fire department and a 3 day ride to the Snowy Mountains (no snow at this time)for the Snowy Mountains ride (for Kids Cancer) where you can see a flock of goldwings taking the kids with cancer to lead a 15km mass ride of navy helicopters, police motorcycles, goldwings and all other partipates from all over Australia and some from overseas. We get to catch up with our other state girls (QLD, VIC, SA) - which is pretty good as they have to travel at least 1,000km to meet up with us.

We are also part of Girls Ride Out which is for every female rider, we go on rides and attend social events - they're only purpose is to ride and have fun.

Perhaps you may want to come over for a ride one day.. and I will be happy to be a tourist guide.

La riders?
by: Jessica

Yes, I have taken the course, passed & now licensed. I enjoy riding & even convinced my bf to do the same thing. The problem is, he's not into riding as much as I am & I find that I have to push him. It sucks. I'm only going to be living here (la area) for less than a year & then moving up north. I'm 24 years old & I'm just looking for someone or a group of women who are any age/orientation that I could ride with. Thats it. I'm mainly in the Los angeles to redondo to long beach area.

Looking for Riding Partners and or a Mentor

by Rene L.
(Oakley, Brentwood CA)

Hello,

I am a new rider with a new bike. My boyfriend is a long time rider and is willing to ride with me sometimes. However, I am interested in finding other riding partners so I can get more practice and not depend on my boyfriend for all of my practice time. I also go out and ride by myself, but don't always want to go it alone.

If there is anyone out there in Contra Costa County, Antioch, Brentwood, Pittsburg, Discovery Bay or Oakley who is interested, please let me know. Oh, and it would be great to find an experienced rider who would consider mentoring me as a new rider.

Thanks! Love this forum!

Ren'e

P.S. I posted on Biker or Not, but so far have just gotten a lot of requests for guys who seem to be interested in collecting Biker Chicks on their friend page, lol.

ABATE
by: Lynn - Florida

We have at least 3 ABATE clubs in SW Florida that are quite active. We recently attended the Ft. Myer's Christmas run to a Veterans Home here in Port Charlotte. Every year they select a deserving group to receive items of need. I was so happy they selected our local Vets Home. There must have been close to 100 people in attendance.

Wanna learn to ride

by Kelly
(Vallejo, ca)

I am a 28 year old mother of 4. I had kids very young and feel that I somehow missed out on a lot of exciting things in my 20's! I have always had an Interest in motorcycles and had a really strong desire to learn to ride and to feel some of that excitement I missed out on! I do not have a bike and am not sure where to begin. In fact I don't even have any friends who have bikes! I am in the San Francisco/bay area and would love some advice!

The basic steps are the same but depending on your state the steps may be a different order.

Here in MN you need to have your permit BEFORE you can sign up for the class. The permit is just the written DMV test. Then you take the class and if you pass the riding test at the end you get your endorsement automatically. At least that's how my class worked. They also provided the bikes for the class. So no need to have a bike of your own first.

So check your local training course for the pre-enrollment requirements. Take the class and see if you even really like riding. If you do great, welcome to the club. If you don't, it's alot cheaper than getting a bike and not wanting to ride it.

When you get a bike, test ride or sit on everything you can find because like cars and blue jeans, what works for someone else may or may not be the right fit for you.
Good luck and just take it one step at a time, at your own pace.

New rider
by: Sapphire

I am 22 and had no prior experience on a motorcycle before my safety class. Hubby and I are from Eureka, Ca and the safety classes are run by CHP in Cali. I took my class in July and bought my first bike last month. We moved to Okinawa with the military so everything was rushed after I bought my bike since it needed a safety inspection to be registered on base. That meant I only got 3 days of practice in a parking lot before I had to ride on real streets and then off base the next day to get to a neighboring base to go through the inspection. Driving off base in a car here in Japan in scary enough, and I had to do it on a bike without even having the time riding outside of a parking lot for more than an hour. But do take your time and go at your own pace when you are learning to ride. I'm still learning as its been less than a month since I started getting real experience.

wanna ride
by: robin

i am just the opposite ...started riding at 54 yo! but what first person said is accurate..do the three steps first. i knew right away i wanted a touring bike so started there. You might have an idea of what kind of motorcycle to try first. Then i asked a friend to help me and i spent hours in a big parking lot. Slowly i learned and gained confidence. Now i wouldn't trade it in for anything! Keep us posted. Good luck

Wanna Ride

Here's whatcha do... find the motorcycle safety course near you and get info on classes and schedules. Next, go to DMV and get a motorcycle learners book and study. Theeen, sign up for the class. Take it, pass it and get a permit.

Now the next step is getting the bike...go to some shops, sit on them, try to find out what's comfortable for you. Feet firmly on ground, not to much lean forward to grip handlebars, that sort of thing. Ounce you know what is comfortable get it and go. Also go online and find rider groups in your area. You will no doubt find people to ride with from your safety class. Practice in you area first to make sure you are comfortable before going into real street traffic and take your time. You will have practice days that feel like set backs, but don't give up and don't rush yourself. You will know when it's time to advance to street, parkway, beltway, etc. You will eventually do it all, but make sure it's in your time when you are comfortable and sure of your riding ability.

Have fun and be safe.
