I would agree with Sassy. I had the exact same reservations as you. I am 5'6 also and a slender build. I got a Softtail Classic and was terrified for a bit that I made a huge mistake and bought to big a bike. However it did not take me long to figure out that, with a lowering kit and a smaller seat the bike fit me perfectly. For me and I suspect for a lot of people, the most important thing was being able to have my feet flatfooted when I put them both down. Granted it is a heavy bike and takes some getting used to but I am getting more comfortable every day and everytime I get on it I do better. I do not for one moment regret buying my Softtail and would do it again in a heartbeat. Good luck and happy riding.

You'll Be Ok on an HD

You will be just fine on a Harley. I'm 5'2"and ride everything Harley makes. I have a Sportster, Fatboy, and a Roadking. Of course each one has been modified to fit me. I guess what I'm trying to say is that with a few adjustments you can ride any bike you want. At your height you will not have a problem. And you shouldn't need too many adjustments either. Basically any bike will work for you so just go out and sit on, take a test ride on as many bikes as possible and you will find just the right for for you. Don't just settle for whatever. There is a perfect bike for each of us. So just go out and find it and get in the wind.
P.S. the Fatboy, Deluxe, and Heritage.are all basically the same bike. Same size frame so all are great bikes for women. The Roadking, Ultra Classic, and Street Glide are are the same frame too.
