Brendan James Ervin, One child, One Mothers Broken Heart, One Fathers Hopes and Dreams, One Unknown Disease.
Brendan James Ervin did not die of Cancer or Heart Disease, he didn't die from a drunk driver, he did not die from any of the top 10 causes of childhood death. He wasn't an abused or neglected child, he was loved by his parents and all who knew him. His Death was tragic in many ways, one because he was just a 17 year old boy who had not reached his potential and 2 because his illness wasn't diagnosed because Brendan had a disease that is so rare that only 1.2 children in a million have it. The Doctors thought it was and ordinary teenage case of Mono. The disease that caused Brendan's tragic death is called Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis or (HLH). It is a rare blood disorder that wreaks havoc on the body immune system and is linked with the Mono Virus.
Brendan had a wish and it was that no other child would ever have to go through what he did. Brendan's wish was a battle cry for his parents, Angela and Don Cage and they began to form the Army that will fight for Brendan's wish and fight to cure HLH.
We want you to be a part of that Army. Awareness of the disease is the first battle of this war and raising money for research to cure this horrible child stealing disease is the next battle. We believe that both of these battles can be won with the first annual Concert and Bike Rally for the Brendan's Wish Foundation. This concert will be monumental, and will be held at Texas Motor Speedway with Bands such as Blackfoot and Molly Hatchet, the list is growing with top entertainers willing to join this child's Army. Brendan's Wish Foundation is in great need of sponsors and I have attached a copy of the sponsor guidelines. This Concert will be a great start for the Brendan's Wish Foundation. All money raised will go to aid in the research and cure of HLH. The date for this event is April 28, 2012.
We would like for you to join this Army and fight for Brendan's Wish. This quiet disease could touch a child you love. Please help us bring this disease to the forefront of the medical community and the public’s consciousness.
