F 650 GF

I am 5'1" w/ about the same inseam.....short!!!
I have a 06 BMW F 650 GS. My bike came in the lower version directly from BMW. It is light, and seating position is upright. It has ABS and adjustable suspension. Luv It.

Best Bike Fit

I am also 5'2" and I really like my Honda Shadow, as mentioned here the V-Star is good also. I have sat and read about different bikes. If you like sport bikes the Ninja 600 is good, they can be lowered, but you would only be able to get the balls of your feet to touch.

30" Inseam

I'm 5ft4 with a 30" inseam. I started on a Hyosung GV250 and recently bought a BMW F650GS. I'm flat footed on both bikes.

Yamaha V-Star Custom 650

I'm 5'4 and I'm flat footed on this bike. Which is great, especially if you're just starting out. Just keep in mind that you can get your bike lowered by changing out the shock as well as buying a special lower seat, well depending on what bike you might like. That's what I had to do with with my Ninja 650. Good luck!

Any Bike You Want
by: Anonymous

You can ride any bike you want, its just a matter of being comfortable on it. My spouse has a 27" inseam and he rides bikes that have 31" seat heights. No problem.

When I learned to ride, I limited myself to bikes that were so low I could almost 'drag my knees' on. Once I got comfortable riding...well... lets just say a couple of the bikes I have now I can barely touch my toes on the ground when I'm stopped. Its usually, left foot on the ground, bike slightly leaning to the left, right foot on the brake.

2007 Yamaha V-Star 1100 Silverado
by: SOPHIA

I'm interested in a cruiser, not sports bike. I like being upright.

I'm Korean with a "strong back" 128lb. A friend recommends start with a Honda 250 Rebel. But I'm afraid of getting it and then wanting to trade up immediately.

Thought it would be a waste, if I'm just going to have it for such a short time. I'm not sure.

Another friend has a 2007 Yamaha V-Star 1100 Silverado for sale. I guess I just need to get out and sit on the dang thing to find out.

Any thoughts?

Or this...

A Ducati Monster 696 would fit you also. It, too is lightweight with a low seat height for a sport bike.

30" Inseam

With your inseam you could ride a Ninja 250 if you're interested in sport bikes at all. It's lightweight, nimble, and can definitely keep up with highway traffic.

Short but Built for Comfort not Speed
by: Wendy - Sydney

I too am 5'2". I have a factory lowered BMW F800ST with the extra low seat. I can touch the ground with 90% of both feet. Its a sports tourer. My first bike was the 250cc Yamaha Virago cruiser.. which was totally both feet on the ground with knees bent.. Hope this is of benefit.

Cheers!

Lowering kit...
by: Sandra

When I was shopping for my first bike, I paid special attention to any w/a lowering kit already installed. There are lots of ways to drop the seat height a bit if you find a bike that's perfect in every OTHER way...

My bike is a Suzuki C50C cruiser w/a 27" seat height, and I LOVE her. Flat foot her much better than the SMALLER cc Suzi TU250 I learned on...

But my slightly shorter girlfriend did not like my C50 at all! She ended up w/a 600 V-Star and it's hard to get her off of it.

Have fun! Go shopping with just the intention of sitting on every bike you can swing a leg over. Take notes and then start narrowing your search to bikes you feel "natural" on.

Short Bikes
by: Anonymous

If you like the cruiser look, try the Honda Shadow or the Victory makes a bike specifically for women with a low seat height smaller frame handle bars set for short arms. This last Saturday I test rode a BMW F800ST, it has a seat height of 29", very light & nimble. You can get hard bags for it which make it more of a touring bike.

Good luck!
