Back In The Saddle

by Noelle
(Freehold, NJ)

Hi Ladies...Well after much procrastination, I went out on my Honda Shadow 600 yesterday for the first time this season. I hate to admit it, but I let fear stop me from riding this year. I felt like I had forgotten everything I learned last season (my first season riding. My man recently bought a brand new Harley Fat Bob and after @ weeks of riding solo, I came home from an errand yesterday and my bike was out in front of my house, all shined up and ready to go! I was so nervous I was sick...for about the first mile. After that, I rode for a solid 2 hours! I cannot believe that I let fear keep me from doing something I obviously love so much! NEVER again! I am proud of myself and proud to say I'm back in the saddle and here to stay! Thank God for all the previous comments I got on this website, and thank God for men that push us to our potential! Ill keep you posted on my progres cause I still have a way to go...THANKS AGAIN!!

I am so glad you got back in the saddle. I have only been riding since the beginning of August of this year. I have put over 4000klm on my bike. I take it everywhere I can. Every nice day I am on the bike instead of the car. I love it but more than that I want to have enough experience that a few months out of the saddle while we get snow is not going to open the door to fear. I believe when you build that confidence it will stay with you... at least that is my hope. I encourage you to ride as much as possible to gain that confidence too. For me riding alone has been the best. I don't ride like anyone around me or watch them. I have learned to watch the road, the traffic, and all the stuff going on around me. I have learned that I am alert and can avoid danger. I am a careful rider and by riding alone I have figured out how to ride my own ride even when I ride with others. It sure has been awesome!! Keep riding and ride safe... :)

I'm with you.

I've let my Shadow sit for the same reason... fear.

I want to ride today while the weather is still nice. Still get queezy every time I consider riding and I've made every excuse I can think of not to ride. All silly lame reasons.

Glad to hear your man pushed you to get back on!!! Once in a while they (men) are useful beings.

I'm glad that your back at it again. We shouldn't let fear get in our ways or insecurities for that matter. Forget what everyone else thinks. We do it for ourselves :)
