Audio: iPod or xm radio??

by Sue
(Vermont)

Hello,

My hubby is picking up an audio system for my bike today and was wondering what you ladies are using. My first thought was to use my music on my iPhone which I like with no commercials, etc. but worry about the inconvenience of connecting/unconnecting all the time as well as leaving my phone unattended when in a store or whatever. My next thought was an xm radio. My hubby has one on his bike and loves it. I have it in my car and love it but not in love with how it cuts in and out in the Vermont mountains.
What do you have and are you happy with your choice? Thanks!

NO DISTRACTIONS
by: Anonymous

I agree, no phone, no music, no IPOD, no GPS. We complain about how the cagers are so distracted with texting, radios, etc. Focus should be on riding, I want to hear whats around me, my engine, the other cars, how do you do that with ear buds in. NO DISTRACTIONS.

ipod or xm

I listen to my iPod. I've made playlists specifically for different moods/rides and absolutely love the element it adds to my ride. There is a bluetooth communication device en route for my helmet that I am pretty excited about!

Music

I think you will like either/or. I don't believe in paying for something you already have or can get on your own device for free. If anything, get Pandora on your phone, it's free. Just do what you feel is best for you, safety considered.

Don't believe in listening to music on my bike. Your full attention should be on the ride.

Neither....the sound of my bike in nature
by: Judy

Why worry about being tethered to music or a phone? Just RIDE and forget the stupid electronic devices, enjoy the "music" of your bike and immerse yourself in the full experience of riding.

I keep a simple (not "Smart") phone in my pocket for emergencies. I don't look at it at all unless I stop for fuel--and not always then--or until I get home.
