Any racers out there?

by Mary
(East Bay, CA)

I'm just wondering...

I see a lot of ladies with cruisers, touring, or sport touring bikes. Nothing wrong with that! Just wondering if there are any ladies out there that are into knee dragging around a corner.

I'm still a fairly new rider that has yet to determine what type of rider I will be. So far though, the look of sport bikes and watching motorcycle racing has turned me on. So for me I'm leaning in that direction (pun intended).

I'm in Hayward, to be more specific. Santa Barbara is a bit far from here!

Any racers out there?
by: Marie

Hello Mary

Well, I guess my girl is technically a sport touring bike, but I must say, I am look'n forward to scrap'n the knee.

I just recently purchased my new to me 2007 F800S in the gorgeous stock red. Been looking for other women riders too. I live in Santa Barbara County (Buellton, which is 1/2 hour north). I tried Google searching East Bay, Ca. and found a couple. Where exactly are you?

Almost Scraped Pegs
by: Mary

Yesterday was riding with the boyfriend and he was coaching me (and challenging me) to take corners better. I took a corner at 50mph (posted was 35), and I was leaning so far I scraped my boot. I was comfortable with the lean angle, but when my boot dragged it freaked me out. Oh but it was awesome!

Ride Yamaha FZ-1
by: Anonymous

Rode my first track day at age 59 on a Ninja 250.
Scared myself silly, but had SO MUCH FUN. We ladies, on sportbike are out there, you just have to look a little harder for us.

Good luck!

Thanks guys!

A lot less than I thought there were out there, at least on this forum! But it's great to know your experiences. Yeah, I think that I'm going to take the track eventually. Hopefully not too much cuz I know it can get expensive!!!

Racing
by: Lynn - Florida

I raced motocross from age 15 to 21 in the late 1970s. I raced in the first Women's Nationals among many talented racers. A few of them went on to be stunt women. I was young and in my prime. I am so grateful I had that experience! If you can afford to, do it!

Track Addict
by: kp

I'm addicted to the track! I have an '06 Ducati M620 that I turned into my track bike this summer. haven't put a knee down yet, but I'm getting close. there is nothing like the thrill of being on the track, no cops, no dirt and no gravel in the corners!

In my dreams...
by: Fiddler

I have a baby ninja and admit to dreaming about owning a supersport one day, though I have no need for such extreme speed and braking capabilities. I used to compete in equestrian sports and the thought of racing bikes is quite alluring. However, I am at the age where my bones will likely soon be turning to balsa wood, so such an endeavor would likely be a poor choice. I wish I'd started this years ago!
