Always Assume

by Maybee
(Lubbock, TX)

ALWAYS assume that no one see's you. If they make eye contact with you, they will still pull out in front of you. I experienced this myself.

The guy looked directly at me and pulled out right in front me. Fortunately, I had already started slowing. This happened in a matter of seconds. All I had time for was to lay it down. All I ended up with was road rash, bumps n bruises, but it could have been worse.

REMEMBER: THEY DO NOT SEE YOU WHEN THEY MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH YOU.

Rider Awareness
by: Judy

Before riding a motorcycle. I had commuted to work for 15 years via bicycle. I have been run off the road, cut off, people opening up their car doors on the street right in front of me. I had reflectors, bright yellow gear and still I was invisible to people. Riding my bicycle had prepared me to realize that no one really sees me. There is something that happens to the greater percentage of people when they get into their cars. I think they have mentally have already arrived at their destination and do not focusing on the task of getting their. It can be scary at times.

Situational Awareness

Situational awareness is one of most important aspects of riding a motorcycle and having loud pipes doesn't hurt either.

Seeing us Motorcycles
by: Bridgett

Very good reminder, Being a motorcyclist I am more cautious than the average driver, and there are times I have almost pulled in front of a motorcycle, not seeing them....That's why I love my loud Harley, if they can't see me, maybe they will hear me!

We all need to ride defensively and careful out there!!!
