Aftermarket Seats

by Wanda
(Harvest, AL)

I'm considering an aftermarket seat for my BMW G650GS. My stock seat does not provide the comfort I need for long rides. Does anyone have any experience with aftermarket seats? I've heard of Corbin, Sargent, Wunderlich, Touratech, Kahedo, Bill Mayer, and Russell. I would appreciate any advice you ladies can give me. Thanks!

Aftermarket seats

Hello, I don't have a GS, but I do have the F50CS. I didn't like the way I kept sliding forward on the seat, especially when braking. Easy cheap fix to customize the seat is to pull it off and carefully remove the upholstery staples on the backside. The Stock padding is glued to the cover. By adding high density foam beneath the stock padding, you can change the contour of the seat bottom to something that is more comfortable. Glue these piece(s) into place and stretch the cover back over the seat and restaple (an extra set of hands is very helpful here). Because you do the work yourself, you can try a couple of different shaped foam pieces to get exactly what you want rather than gambling on a $200-400 custom seat that may or may not fit better than the stock.

Sargent Seats

I had a custom seat made for a KZ650 by them and it ROCKED. Excellent quality and comfort, cheaper than Corbin, and it came out exactly how I drew it, and they color matched the trim perfectly.

They have many different types of foam and covers, you can't go wrong with them.

Female Friendly Seats
by: Laura

I, too, am interested in anyone's experience in finding a female-friendly seat. On my sport bike, I find myself sitting directly on my... upper groin area, which after a while gets very uncomfortable.
