A midlife crisis...

by Rhonda S.
(Gaithersburg, MD)

I just turned 38 this year and saw my childhood friend that I haven't seen in years. She has a motorcycle and is in a all women club. Sounds like fun right? Now that I seen her, I want to learn to ride a bike and maybe start my own womens club. Is this a midlife crisis? Do other women feel like this too? How do I begin? I'm so ready. BigDeeva.

Riding Again at 57
by: Anonymous

I rode many, many years ago and just bought a bike four months ago. I went with my son to look at a motocross bike for him and saw a Honda Shadow 600 VLX on the showroom floor and bought it the same night. I took a MSF class and passed with flying colors. I rode the 600 for three months and felt the need for something a little bigger and traded for a Shadow Spirit 750. It only weighs about 50 lbs more but it is a lot more comfortable and easy to ride. I love it. I am 57 years young and love to ride. I ride with my sons and we are having a blast. Age is only in the mind. If you really want to ride, do it.

Feeling the Same Way
by: Anonymous

Wow, your post is exactly how I feel. I am 38 and want a bike so bad. I was never really interested in bikes before but I have a coworker who constantly talks about getting one and have know sparked an intense interest. I just think it would be so cool to do. I think I'm going to jump in and see how I like it. I might even see you on the road since I have just moved to Maryland.

Not Mid Life Crisis
by: Patty

You're to young for a mid life crisis. I on the other hand just turned 49 and went out and bought a bike. I took the safety course. I just love riding. I'm still very new at it but can't wait to go out every chance I can. I've only been on the highway once and for a short ride. I plan on going out this weekend. I need to practice practice and more practice. The more you ride the more comfortable you will become.

Born to Ride

It could be, but if you want to ride, go right ahead, you will love it. I know, I did the same thing, and I love it.

Not a Crisis!
by: Sassy2731

I say it is not a crisis because if your children are grown then you have no worries, because they can care for themselves. I waited until by boys were grown and on their own then I took the Safety Class and got my license. There are women's clubs in every state now also so check into those before you go start a new one on your own. The established clubs have experienced riders that can coach you and help you learn. You go girl! Learn and Be Safe!
