Chicago Motorcycle Show -

What Midwestern Bikers Live For

Shiny yellow Ducati motorcycle

Chicago Motorcycle Show - the be-all and end-all of all motorcycle shows, marked on our calendars as soon as the New Year celebrations have ended - this show is the unofficial end-of-winter marker for midwesterners who yearn for the open road.

The show is traditionally held in the beginning of February, at the lovely Rosemont Convention Center in lovely Rosement, Illinois - near O'Hare Airport for those adventurers who are willing to fly. One of the CycleWorld International Motorcycle Shows, this is a don't-miss event if you are a motorcyclists and you can travel to Chicago.

I look forward to the show each year - for the opportunity to see the new models of motorcycles, and to try them on for size. Literally - if I'm interested in the new BMW's, I'll visit their booth and sit on each one, assessing the weight and dimensions.

I also view the Chicago show as an opportunity to meet new touring companies and grab their literature - always planning that next great adventure.

Each year, there are new organizations and products geared toward women motorcyclists - some succeed, some fail - but I love checking them out. I also shop for jackets, pants and boots - the items that hardest to find. You can try stuff on, and if you find something that fits - buy it right there - usually for a bargain price.

The show is a great place to buy a helmet - there are always great deals - and you have the ability to get measured and try on the helmet for fit and comfort.

Amidst all of the motorcycles, you can find all imagineable types of gadgets and gear - ripe for the picking.
