2013 Harley Davidson Street Glide

by Linda
(Long beach, ca)

I recently upgraded to a touring bike after not being able to keep up with my husband on long trips (endurance wise) on my Harley Davidson softail deluxe - which is by the way an outstanding motorcycle for about 150 mile days, not 250-300 mile days.

Anyway the handling on the street glide is incredible. I feel like I am riding a Cadillac! Very smooth ride, more like my old BMW 650 than my old softail.

I am very happy with my purchase. I am only 5'3" and weigh about 128 lbs. I lowered the bike using progressive shccks down a 1/2 and also bought a Harley reach seat. Most recently I had my stock seat modified my mean city cycles. I am not use to it yet, but ifeel safer being able to to I almost flat footed now

Good luck finding the right bike. I demo'd this bike twice before the purchase and fell in love each time. Next upgrade- speakers, heated hand grips and pipes

Also loved the Deluxe
by: Linda

HI,
Just wanted to be clear - I loved my Delux, but needed to move up. I also loved my BMW F650 GS and CS's. I loved my Kawaski EX500 - maybe the most, but I kept moving up. Just to be clear, I've been riding for over 15 years and love all of the bikes I've had. The Delux had the easiest reach, but was just as big as my Street Glide. What I love about the Street Glide is the fairing and the wind protection for my hands. I freeze on a bike, but refuse to stop riding all year long, therefore heated hand grips and sometimes a heated vest are a requirement for me. I will be taking my first long trip next week on the Street Glide to Vegas and hope I don't get so fatigued as I did on the delux after a few hours.

Delux - great bike. Street Glide - also a great bike

I also had my heart set on a HD deluxe but instead decided to try the road king and am I happy I did. I had to have it lowered and put a reach seat on it. I've since added the heated grips, stereo system, CB system, LED lights, pegs and racks. I'm only 5'4 and have riden 700 miles in a day on this bike. I highly recommend the bigger bikes for long trips!!
