2012 Honda Shadow 750 Spirit C2 Candy Orange Flame

by Gina Richey
(Alabaster, AL)

I love my 2012 Honda Shadow Spirit 750!! I named her "Sweet Tater". It is the 2nd brand new Honda 750 Shadow Spirit I have owned. I also had a bright yellow 2002 Spirit which was bought new, which I had named "JuicyFruit". This is a great bike for ladies!! For me, the best part is the weight is perfectly centered right underneath you & it is not front end heavy at all. Just perfectly weight balanced, which makes for easy maneuvering & handles curves smoothly. It has a low seat height of only 25.8" which is great for smaller ladies & short legs. I am only 5'3' and flat-foot it with ease. The '02 model Spirit I had was chain driven. It was geared very high from factory & I had vibration at higher (60 mph) highway speeds, so I changed out the rear sprocket from the 42 tooth to a 38 tooth sprocket which lowered the gear ratio and I didn't have to shift so quickly anymore. OR be reaching for another gear when there wasn't one left. HA! I also had it jetted & added Cobra 2" drag pipes. She sounded awesome!! Many confused my shadow with a Harley until they got a closer look. The new 2012 Shadows are now Shaft Drive which makes for a much smoother ride. The 2012's are also fuel injected, so there is no more reserve fuel switch to mess with. I also love having the wide gas tank. When I went to purchase my new bike I was going back & forth between the Harley 883 or the Honda Shadow 750 Spirit. For me the Shadow just fit & felt better under me than the Harley 883. The Harley felt tall & very skinny & I felt as if I was sitting on top of a 2x4 turned up on it's side. I preferred the width & feel of the Honda. To me brand wasn't so much an issue... but I felt Harley was more buying the name brand while I got more bang for my buck with Honda. It's all just personal preference... Don't matter what you ride....Just Ride!!! :)

Interested in this bike NEW
by: Linda

I am getting ready to buy this bike and was really happy to see your review on it. Especially for a shorter person! I am 5'2" and love the low seat height! The only thing that concerns me a little is I read the handlebars might be a reach. I was also looking at the Shadow Aero, which has closer handlebars. But I like the looks of the Spirit better. So I'm going to go with the Spirit and if I don't like the bars, that's an easy fix :)

I have the same bike
by: Babsy

I just bought the spirit in the orange color. I had a black one but was always looking for the orange one. As here in Belgium this color is not available it was quiet a struggle to find her but i did ;-)
Now waiting for the sunny weather and we can ride this beauty.

Moving Up?
by: Gina

Thanks Ladies! Buzz, if you are thinking of moving up from a 250 the 750 is perfect!! My husband rides an 06 Harley Dyna Lowrider & I have no problems keeping up with the bigger bikes. I suggest going to the dealerships & sitting on one...lift it & shift it side to side.... you will absolutely LOVE the weight balance!! It's almost the same size as my husbands Harley (although not as heavy as his) He loves how my Honda Shadow handles as well. He says it one smooth little bike! :) Honda also offers a 900 as well as the 1300 Shadow... which I am tempted to go for when I decide to move up in size. Weight difference is not that much more.

Move up???
by: Buzzer

I've been riding my first bike a year now. Really liked my Honda Rebel 250 but it has some limits...thinking of "moving up" I don't want something too big...but I want to be able to keep up with some bigger bike riders. The 250 vibrates too much at 60mph for me....
your new ride is very tempting looking!

Ditto

I felt the same way, I have one in Black added a few things to it and fits me perfect. I love it. It's only my second bike I started on a suzuki Savage 650. I still have it not sure what I am going to do with it just yet! Don't have a name for mine yet, but I am sure I will think of something. It was nice to hear someone thought the same I did. LOL
