My Bike

My husband bought me this motorcycle for our anniversary. It is my first bike, and this year will be the the first full riding season I have had on it. I am soooo looking forward to riding.

Newbie rider 2012 Iron 883 owner

I, too, just got my license (2012) after taking the MSF class and then looked all the bikes that were on the height challenged side....after attending a garage party at the local HD dealer I was hooked on Harley's but decided to keep my options open. I sat on a few different makes but kept on going back to the Sporster family...toss up between the superlow and 883, shiny vs. bad @ss looking flat black....I sat on them for over an hour. Iron one hands down...I love the little kick of the power and each day I get on the darkone I learn to control "him" a little bit better...soon he will be "mine". I want to get to know my bike before I tweek and upgrade....new seat next on my list and then exhaust ......keep riding...with the wind

I just got a 2011 Iron & I'm loving it. She's my "Black Beauty". Have you put a backrest or saddlebags on yours? I'm curious as to my options since there's not a whole lot of room on it.

Nice Bike

My bike is an 883 02 Hugger..My first bike too..I am wanting to get a bigger bike but no money..No one is going to trade straight over..I want a softtail...I love my girl ,but it is true you want to go bigger..I have been riding two years now..Love your color..A bike you can be proud of..I love my girl and I will miss her if I do have to give her up to get a bigger Harley..

E-bay?

I was checking out Craig's List and E-bay - Classified Items over the weekend and in my area at least, the market is currently flooded with bikes for sale!

I prefer gently used to new, just because I'm budget conscious...about.com has an area of articles regarding how to shop for a used bike to assure you are not buying someone else's troubles. But I would say that most folks take really good care of their bikes, and sell them often because they need the cash.

I got my Suzuki C50 Boulevard with less than 10k miles on it from a young man who took the cash and paid for his wedding reception. Study what you are looking for, learn all you can, then just go shopping. There are some really good deals in the used market.

But if you need new - any Harley Davidson dealer will set you right up! They are most friendly in every HD dealership I've walked into - even when I'm just dreaming.

I've traded in my husband for a Suzuki GN250 but are now looking for an upgrade ..... HD 883 or similar And a new hubby maybe :)

I also got a 2010 Iron 883 for my Wedding Anniversary. I got my license last year in May. I did not get a lot of riding in last year. But this year I plan on getting a lot of practice in. Good Luck to You!

(I'm from Sandwich, IL)...my husband just got me a diamond necklace for our 15th anniversary - and I love it. But a new Harley is definitely just as awesome and thoughtful!!

If you pass a white Suzuki Boulevard on Route 34, it's probably me!!

This is my second season. Now that I'm retired enjoying it even more. Already have put over 1000 miles on my bike, hadn't driven one in almost 40 years, so nice to get back on.
