I got my first bike a 1985 HD 883 in April 2005. I quickly learned it was not big enough for me as I am 5' 10" and it had been lowered to fit a 5'2" lady. So in August my husband found me a 2003 Sportster (the 100th anniversary edition.) I love riding it but for long trips it's not real comfortable because it has the drag handlebars. So, I was at a motorcycle event a couple years ago and a guy had the 89 softail for sale. I was able to get it along with a bunch of other stuff (2 helmets, leather jacket, 2 pr goggles, hydraulic lift) - he was getting out of riding all together. I can now go on longer trips on the softail and not be worn out when we get to where we're going. I love both bikes and wouldn't get rid of either one...except for maybe a BRAND NEW Heritage Softail!
