2002 yahama xvs 650 wont start

my bike is a 2002 yahama xvs 650 its been sitting for over a year due to to the rear finle drive went out. i fixed that and got all the old gas out and put a new battery in checked the spark plugs and thay have spark. it wont start still is there any thing im missing?
