2000 Honda Shadow VLX

by Kelly C (CKELGO)

Me & My Shadow!

I started out on a 1996 Honda Rebel that a friend of mine started on. The next season, I got my Shadow. I have been riding this one for 8 years, and next year I plan on getting something bigger. I got my eye on an Aero, probably a black or burgundy. I am 5'2" and chubby and this would be perfect for me.

I rode with my hubby for many years, and got jealous when he would go for a ride and I had to stay home with our daughters. When they got older, I decided that I wanted to go on my own, and I got the Rebel. Now we occasionally take the girls out for a ride and have dinner somewhere. And hubby and I belong to the Moose Riders, a group of riders from the Beloit Moose Lodge. We ride to different places and raise money for different charities in the area. So far, we have over 50 members and are growing all the time.

Ladies, if you are considering riding, DO IT! You are never too old and you can do it! It is the most fun you can have and there lots of women who ride.

Keep the rubber side down --

Me & My Shadow

My VLX has good power, but when we ride with all the bigger bikes in the Moose Riders (Harley 1300s), I feel I need a bigger bike to keep up. I want an Aero so I gotta save my pennies!

My very 1st bake was a 360 Honda 40 yrs ago, only had it a short while. Forward about 40 yrs, my 2nd bike is a 2000 Honda Shadow 1100. Started riding again a little over a yr ago. Was told, by some, it was too big for me, 5'3" and also "fluffy". Showed them they were wrong. Only problem I have is once in a while I burn my leg on the upper pipe, but can live with that just have to be careful. Love the bike and have put on over 5000 miles so far.

I have a 650 Classic, love it! Everyone keeps telling me I need a bigger bike, but I am finally soooo comfortable on this one, plus....it is paid for (big bonus). Enjoy and ride safe.

Nice Bike

Great bike. I'm getting my first bike tomorrow a 650 V-Star. I'm excited but nervous. Hoping after a couple of years I'll be ready to move on to something bigger. Looking forward to many road miles in the future.
